About the Course
The course teaches students to repair and service mechanical, electronic and electrical components and systems associated with light vehicle engines, suspension, steering, braking, transmissions, ignition and electrical accessory systems and related components. It is intended to develop your skills in light vehicle mechanics and ensure you are competent to perform at par with industry standards worldwide. You will learn how to apply safe work practices, carry out repairs to single electrical circuits and test service batteries. Tasks also include discussing problems with customers to detect faults through various diagnostic procedures and specialised diagnostic equipment.
In addition, this course will help you develop your skills in servicing and repairing, suspension, steering, transmission and braking systems, engine management systems and teach you about inspecting and servicing engine cooling systems. The introduction of electronic control for engine, emission and dynamic vehicle control systems has given an added dimension to the complexity of this traditional motor mechanic’s work.
